We took a day trip over to Oahu mainly because we wanted to visit Pearl Harbor.

It was well worth it. There was a very informative museum that you toured while you wanted for your time slot at the theater. Once in the theater we viewed a movie made up of real footage of the attack from both the Americans and the Japanese. It was a very emotional film. We there were then immediately taken out to the memorial. It was a very poignant experience.

There was a marker for each of the ships that were sunk at the spot it was sitting when the attack occurred.

The superstructure had been removed but you can still see parts of the ship under and above the water. There was also a small bubble of oil that came up every few minutes. It was hard to believe that after 60 years it was still leaking oil.

Looking down into the water at part of the ship.

The list of the men that lost their lives that day, just on the Arizona.

On the right side was a place for the names of the Marines who were lost that day. On the left side of the memorial was a list of names of the men who survived the attack but had since died and had been entombed along with their shipmates on the site.

The anchor had been raised and restored.

The bell had been also.
