We took numerous walks up here because it was so pretty.

We have no idea what kind of bird this is but he was fun to watch.

There were a number of really neat, very different birds.

There were roosters and chickens everywhere! They are the 'pest' of Kauai as there are no natural predators. The other island had brought mongooses in to take care of the chickens and rats. The story is that they brought them to Kauai too but as they were unloading the crates, one of the sailors got bitten so he threw the crate off into the sea and they drown. No one cared enough to try again. They also have had problems on the other islands with the mongooses feeding off the native birds' eggs as well and are causing some birds to become endangered.

It was funny to see them all over the place. They would even wander past your chairs while you were laying out by the pool! :o)
